Thin Set Installation Method
This ceramic toilet paper holder is designed to be secured directly to the prepared wall surface using thin set mortar. The two openings on the back are intentionally left open during installation. Thin set is built up around the openings rather than filling or blocking them.
When the holder is pressed firmly against the prepared wall surface, the air inside the openings is compressed. This can create a suction effect that helps hold the ceramic holder against the wall while the thin set mortar cures and establishes its bond.
Installation Instructions
1. Determine the Installation Location
Select a comfortable and convenient location for the toilet paper holder. Consider the finished tile layout and make sure there is adequate clearance for the toilet paper roll and easy access during normal use.
2. Prepare the Wall Surface
Prepare the wall surface according to the requirements of the tile and thin set system being used. The bonding surface should be clean, stable, and free of dust, loose material, grease, or other debris that could interfere with proper adhesion.
3. Apply Thin Set Mortar
Apply an appropriate amount of thin set mortar to the prepared installation area and/or the back of the ceramic holder according to the installation method being used. Build the thin set around the two rear openings. Do not fill or block the openings.
4. Press the Holder Into Position
Carefully position the ceramic toilet paper holder against the prepared wall surface. Press it firmly and evenly into place so the thin set makes proper contact with the back of the holder. Check that the holder is level and correctly aligned with the surrounding tile layout.
5. Hold and Secure the Position
Keep the holder properly positioned while the thin set begins to set. The two open areas on the back can allow the trapped air to compress as the holder is pressed against the wall, helping create a suction effect while the mortar establishes its bond.
6. Allow the Thin Set to Cure
Allow the thin set mortar to cure according to the thin set manufacturer's recommendations. Do not place normal use loads on the holder until the mortar has adequately cured.
7. Complete the Surrounding Tile and Grout
Complete the surrounding tile installation and grout the joint around the ceramic holder as appropriate for the installation. Remove excess thin set or grout from the ceramic surface before it cures.
